The Great Western Railway inherited the Vale of Rheidol Railway (1ft 11½in or 600mm) and the Welshpool and Llanfair Railway (2ft 6in or 760mm) from the Cambrian Railways at the Grouping in 1923, and purchased the Corris Railway (2ft 3in or 685mm) in 1930.
